List of Classes, Shoes, and Attire 2024-2025
Combo Classes- 2 years to 6 years
Combo classes include any combination of dance styles to grow your dancer’s horizons and support their attention during the class time. Dancers may sign up for classes that include ballet and jazz, tap/ballet/tumbling, or tap/jazz/tumbling. These are great intro classes for our dancers as they begin their dance journey and explore their love of dance.
Shoes: Black tap shoes (no ties- buckles or Velcro straps preferred) and pink ballet slippers (no ties)
Attire: Any dance wear your little dancer is comfortable with. Many dancers choose to wear colorful leotards and dance skirts or athletic shorts and a tank top.
Dctutus
Dctutus is our youngest performing group and includes dancers ages three to five years. Our goal with Tutus is to offer an environment where dancers train together in multiple styles and have the opportunity to perform at events around the Valley.
Shoes: Black Tap shoes (no ties- buckles or Velcro straps preferred) and pink ballet slippers (no ties)
**Dancers will need to purchase jazz shoes. Color and style will be specified at a later date by your dancer’s teacher. **
Attire: Any dance wear your little dancer is comfortable with. Many dancers choose to wear colorful leotards and dance skirts or athletic shorts and a tank top.
Beginning/Intermediate Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all styles of dance. Dancers will learn correct positions, practice strong technical sequences, and find strength and grace through their movements.
Shoes: Pink ballet slippers for girls and black ballet slippers for boys
Attire: Pink tights and a black leotard for girls, black tights, and a white shirt for boys
**Hair will also be required to be pulled up into a tight ballet bun and out of your dancer’s face**
Funky Jazz
We take traditional jazz and make it a bit funkier and more fun! This style incorporates regular jazz training along with upbeat music and fast pace moves, perfect for your fun mover and a great way to build confidence and grow your dancer’s repertoire.
Shoes: Jazz shoes
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear
Jazz
Jazz dance includes fun and trendy dance steps while increasing a dancer’s technique to be able to perform turns, kicks, and leaps. The strength, flexibility, and conditioning aspect of class helps dancers to become well rounded with a variety of dance steps.
Shoes: Jazz Shoes
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear
Beginning/Intermediate Tap
Tap strengthens a dancer’s musicality and you’ll find that as soon as your dancer begins tapping those toes, it becomes hard for them to stop! Dancers will train in basic tap steps beginning in simple sequences and advancing to harder combinations. Dancers will also build ankle strength and coordination, a key aspect of their dance training.
Shoes: Black tap shoes (Velcro for our young dancers and laces for dancers 6+ years)
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear
Hip Hop
Hip hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. It’s the perfect style to get your body moving and grooving!
Shoes: Any street sneaker (converse, nike, vans, etc)
Attire: Any athletic/baggy wear-t-shirts/sweatpants (please, no jeans or jean shorts)
Lyrical/Contemporary
Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz training while contemporary gives this style of dance an abstract and modern twist. Dancers will gain strength and flexibility through the technical aspect of class while gaining stylization and grace by exploring movement that matches slow and emotional songs.
Shoes: No shoes required- dancers may wear turners or toe pads if they so choose
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear
Ballroom Girls
Our Ballroom Girls dance classes specialize in Latin ballroom, focusing on training in cha cha, jive, and samba. Dancers get to learn fun and upbeat combinations, learn extensive footwork, and dance to fun music every week.
Shoes: Latin ballroom heels
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear- many dancers prefer to wear a fun, ballroom fringe skirt for this class
Pom Turns/Tech
Pom Turns/Tech focuses on learning drill team style dance skills with a focus on dancing with poms. Dancers will practice sidelines, game routines and increase their flexibility and strength in turns, kicks, and leaps.
Shoes: No shoes required-tan jazz shoes or turners recommended
Attire: Any type of dance wear or athletic wear
Turns/Tech
Turns/Technique class focuses on a dancer’s strength and flexibility to practice and master jazz technical items such as pirouettes, battements, and leaps across the floor. This class provides a great foundation and guide for other styles they may practice through the rest of the week.
Shoes: No shoes required-tan jazz shoes or turners recommended
Attire: Any type of dancewear or athletic wear
